Ziegler or Garous designs date back to the late nineteenth century, when the Anglo-Swiss Ziegler company commissioned designs from the best Persian and European artisans. These were based on traditional Persian patterns, but with softer, more muted colours.
Today, our Ziegler/Garous rugs are made by skilled weavers in Afghanistan and Pakistan. They use local hand-spun quality wool and natural vegetable dyes. Designs are mostly open all-over with floral spray borders.
The restrained colours of our Ziegler/Garous carpets mean that they fit perfectly with a huge range of decor. From traditional or period properties through to more contemporary homes, Ziegler rugs can enhance and complement many rooms and design schemes.
